TEMPERATURES are set to plunge in parts of the UK as tonight will be colder than MOSCOW at -7C.
Cold winds from the Arctic will bring chilly mornings, frost and some sleet or snow over high ground.
Parts of Britain will feel colder than the Russian capital, where temperatures will be milder at -4C.
It will be cold tonight as most places will start to feel milder towards the end of the week, but another icy blast is due to strike at the weekend, experts warn.
Temperatures will dip to -7C in the north tonight with lows close to freezing forecast elsewhere.
It comes after a chilly Easter bank holiday saw thermometers hit -4.8C in Scotland where a flurry of snow dusted the hilltops.
Met Office forecaster Alex Burkill said northern regions were due to feel the chill tonight with the south in the firing line tonight.
He said: “A cold front will push through the country on Monday night bringing in some quite cold air behind it.
“We could see -8C and some quite harsh frosts in the north early Tuesday morning while the south stays in low single figures.
“Tuesday night will be another very cold night although cloud in the north will make is slightly milder as the south touches -2C to -4C.
“Wednesday into Thursday is looking milder, however another front moves in later on Friday bringing Arctic Maritime air across Britain.
“This weekend looks like bringing a repeat performance of the start of the week, so it is looking very chilly again.”
Temperatures will stay around 8C in the north tomorrow and Wednesday while the south will struggle to get above low double figures.
Southern regions could see highs of 17C by Wednesday with between 10C and 15C forecast more widely.
